Compulsory School Day
In line with Department for Education requirements, we publish the official start and end times of the compulsory school day, along with the total time this amounts to in a typical week.
Start of the compulsory school day
The compulsory school day begins at 8:40am.
School gates open from 8:25am to allow pupils to enter the site safely. Pupils are expected to be in school by 8:40am.
We operate a soft start between 8:40am and 8:50am, during which pupils settle calmly into the school day. Classroom doors and gates close at 8:50am.
Any supervision provided before 8:40am is not part of the compulsory school day.
End of the compulsory school day
The compulsory school day ends at 3:15pm.
Any after-school clubs, activities or childcare provision that take place after this time are optional and are not part of the compulsory school day.
Total weekly compulsory time
The total amount of time spent in school during a typical week is 32 hours and 55 minutes.
This total:

includes teaching time and breaks (such as morning break and lunchtime)

does not include before- or after-school clubs or childcare

The compulsory school day applies to all pupils unless they are on an agreed alternative or reduced timetable.
